As usual, time travellers Joe Cooper and Niki Ling utilize the amazing power of Joe’s phone to explore past and future time zones. In Time Leap 3: Double Fantasy, they travel to New York in December 1980, where the couple attempt to avert the murder of John Lennon by Mark Chapman. This is not as easy as they imagine; but assisted by Russian hitman Smirnoff, they do eventually manage to bring about a reunion of all four musicians.

As the book weaves from one story to another, there is a sub-plot in the form of a police detective called Andrews, who is determined to discover how the couple have won so much money on lotteries - purely by chance. Eventually, Joe is murdered; and in an attempt to undo the very sinister work of Detective Andrews, Niki and Gareth to travel to Liverpool, England, in 1912 in an attempt to change history, and bring Joe Cooper back to life.

The book ends with an amazing revelation, as Joe discovers exactly how he came to be in possession of the time travelling phone in the first place, and he finally understands the meaning of his life.
